The Stand to be made into a movie

Stephen King's The Stand is being made into a movie! You can read more {here}. But to put it simply, Warner Bros and CBS Films will be making a motion picture based on King's novel.

I think it will be really interesting how they tackle this - it has a lot of themes that will resound for the modern viewer, and I have a feeling the virus that wipes out the majority of the population will be very politicised. I have to read it again as it has been about 10 years since I've read The Stand ;D

How do you think they will go reinterpreting it?

I thought they had already made a film or was that a miniseries?

I want to be excited about this, but am mostly nervous. There's been some awesome SK adaptions and some pretty bad ones! Seeing as this is one of his best works I'm thinking (hoping) they'll do a great job.

The Stand is truly one of my top 10 favorites, and it gets re-read every few years. While I loved the mini-series that ABC did back in the 90's, they butchered the story so badly to try and get as much of it in as possible (combining characters, leaving vast portions of the story out completely, etc.) and that was for an 8 hour mini-series. I can't even imagine how they will tell this massive story in 2-3 hours, unless they split it into multiple films. It will be interesting to see what they do!
